Counselling in Sheffield
Counselling offers a safe, confidential space to explore what feels difficult. Whether you’re coping with loss, change, stress or uncertainty, I’ll help you make sense of what’s happening and find steadier ground. My approach combines warmth, empathy and evidence-based techniques so you can reflect, heal and move forward at your pace.
How can counselling help?
Sometimes it’s about needing a calm space where you can talk openly without judgement, untangle your thoughts and feelings, and start to see things more clearly. It’s a space that offers time to pause, reflect and reconnect with yourself, and begin to feel more grounded and at ease.
Counselling can help you understand your emotions, recognise patterns in your relationships, and find steadier, more supportive ways of responding to life’s challenges. It gives you the space to slow down and focus on what really matters to you.
Working together, we’ll take things at your pace. You’ll be gently supported to process what’s been happening, build self-awareness and begin to feel more grounded. Over time, counselling can help you strengthen your boundaries, gain clarity and confidence, and move towards a greater sense of balance and wellbeing.
What we can explore together
Everyone’s situation is unique, and no list can ever capture everything that brings someone to counselling. The areas below reflect some of the experiences I often support people with, but you don’t need to fit neatly into any of them. If something feels heavy, unclear, or painful, we can explore it together and find the best way forward for you.
including grief after pregnancy loss and difficulties around conception
loss of loved ones, anticipatory grief, and adjustment after loss
living with cancer or other serious illness, or supporting someone who is
emotional impact of difficult or distressing experiences
emotional impact, self-identity and relationship changes
burnout, overwhelm and workplace challenges
persistent worry, racing thoughts or sadness that affect daily life and sense of balance
times when you feel unable to move forward, unsure of direction or disconnected from your usual motivation
shifts in relationships, family, health, work or identity, including moving, retirement or starting something new
Hi there! I'm Anne Raw
I’m Anne Raw, a Counsellor and Coach based in Sheffield. People often describe me as calm, thoughtful and easy to talk to, with a grounded sense of humour that helps lighten even the heavier moments.
I became a counsellor after many years of supporting people through change, loss and uncertainty, and seeing how powerful it can be to have someone truly listen. That experience inspired me to train formally and offer others the same space for clarity, resilience and self-understanding.

What you can expect from sessions
Starting counselling can feel uncertain, especially if it’s new to you. We’ll begin with a free 20-minute chat to talk about what’s brought you here and how I can support you.
Your first session is a calm, supportive space to get to know one another and explore what you’d like from counselling. We’ll talk about what feels most important to you right now, and how we might work together. I’ll explain my approach, answer any questions and help you feel comfortable before we begin.
Each session then moves at your pace. We might focus on what’s happening in your daily life, or gently explore patterns, emotions and experiences that shape how you feel and respond. It’s time set aside just for you to slow down, reflect and reconnect with yourself.
You don’t have to have everything figured out to begin. If life feels uncertain or heavy, counselling can help you find steadier ground and a clearer sense of direction. It’s a space to feel heard, supported and understood as you start to move forward with more confidence and ease.
If you’d like to take that first step, I offer a free 20-minute chat to talk about what’s brought you here and how I can support you.
